Wine Guardian Cooling Calculator

Enter a few details about your wine cellar and this tool estimates the cooling load in BTU/hr, then narrows the Wine Guardian models built for that range. Same calculation the manufacturer uses, with direct links to each unit on Wine Cellar Authority to buy or request a quote.

Confirm before you buy. This guidance is general and intended to help narrow the selection. Final sizing, installation design, electrical requirements, and configuration should be confirmed with Wine Guardian’s official documentation and a licensed HVAC professional or qualified contractor.

In addition to a reduction in efficiency, uninsulated glass may lead to excess condensation.

Setting the duct length to 0 will only show ductless units.

50° F10° C 125° F52° C °F °C
Each unit's capacity is adjusted by 1% per °F of condenser air temperature away from 80°F, exactly as the manufacturer's calculator does.

Sizing a wine cellar cooling unit

An undersized unit runs constantly, struggles to hold a steady temperature, and can over-dry the air, drying corks and disturbing the aging process. An oversized unit cools too fast and short-cycles, so the room never dehumidifies properly; when humidity climbs too high, labels peel and mold can grow.

This calculator follows the manufacturer's own cooling calculator step for step: the same load formula, the same model capacity and volume ranges, and the same capacity adjustment of 1% per °F of condenser air temperature above 80°F (and 1% per °F more below 80°F). Use it to narrow the shortlist, not to finalize a spec.
