Which Models Are in the Wine Guardian Sentinel Lineup?
The ducted capacity ladder runs 025, 050, 088 and 200, and every configuration reuses those same sizes. A D050, a DS050, a DP50 and an SP50 are the same capacity step delivered in a different installation format.
That is why the Sentinel name alone does not narrow a purchase. Pick the capacity your cellar needs, then pick the configuration your building allows. This is general planning guidance, not project-specific HVAC, structural, electrical, or code advice. Final decisions should be confirmed with licensed professionals, manufacturer documentation, and local code requirements.
Wine Guardian Sentinel Model Families
| Family | Models | How It Is Installed |
|---|---|---|
| Ducted (D) | D025, D050, D088, D200 | One housing outside the cellar, ducted air in and out |
| Ducted split (DS) | DS025, DS050, DS088, DS200 | Remote condenser plus ducted air delivery |
| Pro ducted (DP) | DP25, DP50, DP88, DP200 | Ducted, with the Pro tier feature set |
| Pro ducted split (SP) | SP25, SP50, SP88, SP200 | Split, with the Pro tier feature set |
| Water-cooled (WC) | D025WC to D200WC, DP25WC to DP200WC | Heat rejected into a water loop |
| European 50Hz (WG, WGS) | WG40, WG75, WG100, WG175 and WGS versions | Same platform, 50Hz markets |
Wine Guardian rates cooling capacity at 80 degrees Fahrenheit ambient. Model availability and ratings should be confirmed against current manufacturer documentation. This is general planning guidance, not project-specific HVAC, structural, electrical, or code advice. Final decisions should be confirmed with licensed professionals, manufacturer documentation, and local code requirements.
How Do You Tell Which Generation You Have?
Start with the model number on the unit nameplate rather than the age of the cellar. Model numbers that follow the D, DS, DP or SP pattern with the 025 to 200 capacity sizes belong to the current platform.
Older Wine Guardian equipment may carry different model naming. If the nameplate does not match the current pattern, treat it as a previous generation and confirm parts compatibility with the manufacturer before ordering replacements.
If the unit is already installed and running, record the full model number and serial number before shopping for accessories or a replacement. Capacity, voltage and frequency all have to match.
Is There a Wine Guardian D040?
There is no D040 in the Wine Guardian ducted lineup. The capacity ladder is 025, 050, 088 and 200, and no model sits between the 025 and the 050.
Searches for a D040 almost always trace back to the WG40. The WG40 is the 50Hz unit built for markets that run on 50Hz power, such as much of Europe and Asia. Wine Guardian names the D025 as the comparable 60Hz unit for North and South America.
Because the manufacturer publishes WG40 capacity in different units and figures across its own pages, we do not restate a capacity number here. Use the current manufacturer specification sheet for the exact rating, and confirm the frequency your building runs on before ordering.

Choose a Configuration
Ducted Self-Contained
One housing outside the cellar, air delivered through ducts.
Ducted Split
A remote condenser for larger cellars and longer runs.
Pro Tier (DP, SP)
The Pro feature set for commercial and high-demand rooms.
Water-Cooled
Heat rejected into a water loop instead of air.
Through-the-Wall
Where Sentinel is a trim level, not a generation.
Looking for parts or humidifiers? Accessories are grouped by capacity size, so match the 025 group or the 050 to 200 group to your model. Full range on the Wine Guardian cooling hub.

Which models are in the Wine Guardian Sentinel Series?
The platform covers the ducted D models, the ducted split DS models, and the Pro DP and SP models, across the 025, 050, 088 and 200 capacity sizes. Water-cooled versions of these models are also included. The European 50Hz WG and WGS models belong to the same platform.
Does Wine Guardian make a D040 model?
No. The ducted capacity ladder is 025, 050, 088 and 200, so there is no D040. Searches for a D040 usually come from the WG40, which is the 50Hz model sold in Europe and Asia. Wine Guardian names the D025 as the comparable 60Hz unit.
What is the WG40 and is it sold in the United States?
The WG40 is the 50Hz ducted unit for markets that run on 50Hz power. North and South America use 60Hz, so the D025 is the model Wine Guardian points to as the comparable unit. Confirm the correct frequency for your location before ordering.
Are the Pro DP and SP models part of the Sentinel Series?
Yes. Pro is a tier within the platform rather than a separate series, so DP and SP units are Sentinel units with additional features. The standard D and DS models are also Sentinel units. Both share the same capacity ladder.
What is the difference between a D model and a DP model?
Both are ducted Sentinel units at the same capacity size. The DP adds the Pro tier features the manufacturer lists, including 24 volt smart thermostat integration, service ports with pressure switches, and protection against extreme climate conditions. Model availability and ratings should be confirmed against current manufacturer documentation.
Which humidifier and duct collar fit my Wine Guardian unit?
Wine Guardian groups these accessories by capacity. One group covers the 025 size, meaning D025, DP25, DS025 and SP25. A second group covers the 050 to 200 sizes, meaning D050, D088, D200 and their DP, DS and SP equivalents. Match the accessory to your model before ordering.
Does Sentinel mean the same thing on a through-the-wall unit?
No, and this is a common source of confusion. On ducted systems Sentinel describes the platform generation. On through-the-wall units Sentinel is a trim level sold alongside Classic and Defender, so a through-the-wall Sentinel is a specific configuration rather than a generation.
