Does the job. A little louder than we were expecting, and the previous cooling unit we had but it had been discontinued. The last unit we had lasted around 15 years and hopefully this one will to.
The only improvement I could see them making other than making it quieter is possible making a custom fit bezel to go around it to hide the mounting ears and gaps between the unit and the wall. Our previous one had one that made a nice, finish install!
As anyone who collects wine knows, it is important to keep those pricey bottles in an environment that provides consistent temperature and humidity. That was our reason for installing a Wine Guardian split system more than five years ago.
Nearly from the very start, we had nothing but trouble with this machinery. After all the headaches, we finally had no choice but to disconnect it and move our approximately 2,200 bottle collection to another location.
Over the years, we have easily spent more money to fix the problems with this system than we did to buy it – which is to say many thousands of dollars. At first, the problems were under warranty, but once that had run its course the bills were ours. The last one bill, which involved replacing the fan system, was nearly $2,000. And so when the system started leaking, again causing damage to our finished basement, we really had enough.
With the Wine Guardian, we had no peace of mind. When we travelled, we had zero confidence that we would return home to a problem. Numerous times, we found temperatures upon our return in the high seventies – nowhere near the 58 degrees we had left it set at. We’ve replaced flooring, lower parts of walls. And had to toss out personal items damaged by the huge flooding this thing produced.
We have now invested in a series of wine refrigerators to hold everything, based on the exactly zero incidence of problems with the wine refrigerators we’ve had upstairs, some of which are now approaching 20 years old.
If you care about keeping your wine collection safe, if you care about protecting your home from flooding, take my advice and avoid the Wine Guardian. Because, quite simply, its name is a lie.
NB: I contacted Wine Guardian to inform them of this forthcoming review. The response? “Thank you.” No concern, no interest in speaking with me. This shows me nothing here comes as a surprise to them. That should tell you quite a lot.
very happy with the timely delivery and the ease of installation
Best decision ever. Powerful, silent, efficient, and reliable!
Was always tweaking my old system, trying to get the temp right. With this one? I set it once and haven’t touched it since. It just works, and I finally feel like my wine is being stored the way it should be.
I was nervous about installing a cooling system, but this one was shockingly simple. The ceiling vent is discreet, and my contractor had it set up in just a few hours.
I did not want an ugly cooling system ruining the look. The CS025 is completely hidden, and I even painted the grille to match my ceiling. It looks amazing!
This unit is perfect for a small built-in wine wall. It keeps everything at the right temp without taking up space or making noise. Highly recommend!
Sits flush in the ceiling, so it is completely out of sight but keeps my wine perfectly stored.
Used to constantly check the temperature because my old system fluctuated so much. Since switching to the CS050, I do not even think about it anymore. My wines are always at the perfect temp, and I finally have peace of mind knowing they are stored correctly.
It is a huge upgrade from traditional cooling units, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision!
I love entertaining, and before getting this system, I was constantly throwing bottles in the fridge at the last minute. Now, my whites, reds, and Champagne are always at the perfect serving temp. No more last-minute chilling!
Easy to use, and I love that it doesn’t draw too much energy.
My wine wall is kept cool, and I don’t even notice it’s running.
The Wine Guardian CS025 is amazing at holding the temperature I want, and it’s very quiet, which I appreciate in my home.
Installed this about a week ago, so far so good. A few comments: the unit runs for longer periods than I expected ( I have seen other reviews that have mentioned this also) and upon reading the manual this seems to be the norm. Also noise level is a little higher than I thought it would be. For me it is ok as the unit is in an area that is not occupied that much but if you had this in a bedroom or high occupancy area it might be little much.
Installation was straight forward. I had to run a new dedicated electrical line which was more work than the actual installation.
I researched the unit and manuals to make sure it would fit where I needed, the directions stated that the unit is "almost flush with the exterior wall" when placed in position 3, (furthest in). Well it's not; it actually sticks out about 3 inches and the drain port with connector makes it about 4 inches or more. I had to make some adjustments on a door that was near the unit so it would clear.
All that said the unit has been keeping the temperature stable, so happy so far.
The unit was a good value. It arrived timely. It was in perfect condition. I did need to calibrate the temperature gauge, but I figured it out and now it works great.
I purchased a replacement for my 17 y.o. WhisperKOOL 1600 XLT. The SC PRO 2000 was recommended and I placed the order with Wine Cellar Authority because of good reviews, a favorable price and delivery terms.
The product installation by my Pro and was seamless. Everything is working great. The SC PRO is easier to operate and the fan is very quiet - a great improvement on the older model.
The delivery was challenging. Not clear whether the packing at distribution caused the issue or FedEx screwed up, but the product arrived a couple days late and the packaging was broken. It does not appear that the actual product was damaged in transit as everything is working fine.
This unit replaced the previous WhisperKool model that I had owned for ten years or more. It is significantly quieter than the previous one which is a major benefit. It has only been installed for about a week but appears to be operating well. It fit in the same cutout the previous cooler had occupied. I hired a handyman to hook it up and the entire job was done in 2 hours
The purchase from Wine Cellar Authority was positive and the unit shipped fairly fast. Previously I had Cellar Cool which did not last very long. I really can not review my new unit as it is only a few weeks old. Ask me to review the unit after a few years.
This is my third Whisper Kool over last 22 years.
The average life is only 7 years. If you value your wine make the investment.
Everything went fine, shipping and communication with the vendor except the unit that came was different dimensions than advertised & reported on the specs page. Since I was replacing a like unit that was 8 years old I wanted it to get the exact same unit for size. Fortunately, the width dimension was the same otherwise it would not have worked out at all...
I installed this unit 3 weeks ago and it took about 10 days to get all (800) the bottles to feel cold. The unit is quiet and does not vibrate when running. Install was easy. The unit only runs for about 10-15 mins several times a day and does not seem to change the temp in my garage, the garage stays about 70 degree even when the unit was running a lot for the first 10 days. so far so good. now to get all the bottles racked and catalogued.
