The WhisperKOOL Extreme tiR series is a fully ducted wine cellar cooling system designed for installations where the unit must be located outside the cellar to reduce interior noise and increase layout flexibility.

It is engineered for properly insulated and vapor-sealed wine cellars and can be installed up to 25 equivalent duct feet away from the space.

If your cellar meets insulation standards and requires remote installation, the Extreme tiR may be appropriate. If insulation, vapor barrier, or duct limitations are not met, performance will be reduced.

A heat load calculation is recommended before purchase.

Who This System Is For

The Extreme tiR is appropriate if:

• Your cellar is fully insulated (minimum R-19 walls, R-30 ceiling)
• A continuous vapor barrier is installed on the warm side of insulation
• You need the cooling equipment installed remotely (attic, mechanical room, adjacent space)
• Maximum duct run does not exceed 25 equivalent duct feet
• Condenser intake air does not exceed 110°F
• A quiet in-cellar environment is required

Who Should Not Use This System

The Extreme tiR may not be appropriate if:

• The cellar exceeds the rated cubic footage
• Insulation or vapor barrier is incomplete or improperly installed
• Significant glass exposure increases heat load beyond capacity
• Duct runs exceed 25 equivalent feet
• Ambient intake air regularly exceeds 110°F
• The installation space cannot provide adequate airflow

Improper installation is the most common cause of cooling system failure.

What Makes the Extreme tiR Fully Ducted?

Unlike through-the-wall systems, the Extreme tiR allows both evaporator and condenser sides to be ducted, enabling:

• Installation up to 25 equivalent duct feet away
• Reduced mechanical noise inside the cellar
• Flexible exhaust routing
• Cleaner cellar aesthetics

Unit plenums ship unpainted.

Cooling Capacity & Model Sizing

The following capacities assume:

• Proper insulation
• Continuous vapor barrier
• Fully sealed door
• Maximum 110°F condenser intake air

If your cellar size is near the upper limit, or includes glass walls, warm climate exposure, or concrete construction, sizing up may be required.

Installation Requirements

Insulation & Vapor Barrier

For rated performance:

• Minimum R-19 wall insulation
• Minimum R-30 ceiling insulation
• Continuous vapor barrier (minimum 6-mil polyethylene)
• All penetrations sealed
• Insulated, gasketed door

Without proper insulation and vapor barrier, condensation and insufficient cooling will occur.

Ducting Requirements

• Maximum 25 equivalent duct feet
• Equivalent length includes elbows and transitions
• 10" return duct
• 8" supply duct (evaporator and condenser)
• Proper airflow must be maintained to prevent static pressure restriction

Exceeding duct limits can reduce cooling capacity and cause short cycling.

Electrical Requirements

• 115V (20 amp dedicated circuit required)
• 230V option (subject to availability)
• Running amps: 9–10 (model dependent)

Control & Monitoring System

The Extreme tiR includes the Remote Platinum Series Controller featuring:

• Advanced System Protection Technology
• Multiple internal monitoring probes
• Quick-Chill mode
• Anti-Frost function
• Liquid-temperature measuring bottle probe
• 50 ft. remote digital display cable

The bottle probe measures actual liquid temperature, reducing rapid cycling caused by ambient air fluctuation.
