Before You Reset: Safety Checks
- Write down any code or alarm on the display before you touch anything. It tells a technician what happened.
- Check the breaker and outlet. A tripped breaker that trips again is an electrical problem for a professional.
- Look at the condenser side for lint, dust or anything blocking the warm-air exhaust.
- Do not open electrical or refrigerant compartments unless you are qualified. Wine Guardian's manuals state that only qualified personnel should perform maintenance.
- Remember that a controller set to OFF is not a power disconnect. Wine Guardian notes that high voltage is still present at the main control board when the remote interface is off.
How to Do a General Power Reset
- Turn the unit off at its switch or controller, then disconnect power at the plug or breaker.
- Wait several minutes so the controls fully power down.
- Fix what you can see: clean the condenser coil, clear the exhaust, close the cellar door.
- Restore power and turn the unit back on.

How to Reset a Breezaire Sentry III Controller
The Sentry III owner's manual documents two procedures.
Manual reset: press and hold the WARMER button for at least 5 seconds. The display briefly shows "8.8.", then the software version, then the temperature unit, then the storage temperature. The manual notes that all user settings are kept after a manual reset. If the unit had not been off for long, it will wait before restarting.
Return to factory defaults: hold the WARMER and COOLER buttons together for more than 5 seconds. The display shows "Fr". The factory storage setting is 55°F.
The manual also states that the controller keeps its settings through a power interruption of any length, so there is no need to re-program it after an outage. The WKL manual adds that the Sentry III has no "off" position and begins to run within minutes of being plugged in.

Resetting a Wine Guardian Unit and Its High Pressure Switch
Remote interface controller. Wine Guardian states that there is no reset button that returns all settings to factory default; each setting is changed individually. The On/Off button has a 5-minute delay before the system turns off.
High pressure switch. This safety switch stops the compressor and condenser when refrigerant pressure is too high. Wine Guardian names restricted condenser airflow, such as a dusty filter or a blocked duct or grille, as the most common cause. On the remote interface this shows as "!1", which stays on screen until the switch is reset.

Clearing Alarms on a WhisperKOOL Unit
WhisperKOOL's SC Series manual does not describe a separate reset procedure. When the unit needs attention it shows an alarm symbol and sounds a buzzer. Pressing any button silences the buzzer, but the alarm code stays on the display until the cause is corrected. To view the code, press and release the set button, then press and release it again while "AL" is displayed.
The most common SC alarm related to heat is "COH", which means the condenser coil is too hot. The manual's fixes are to clean the condenser coil, make sure intake air does not exceed 85°F, and confirm both condenser fans work. The unit resumes normal operation once the condenser has cooled. On Platinum Split units the display must be unlocked by holding any button for one second before other buttons work.
