Description

WhisperKOOL Platinum Split Twin 220V High Efficiency Wine Cellar Cooling System (Up to 3,000 cu. ft.)

The WhisperKOOL Platinum Split Twin 220V is a dual-evaporator ductless split system designed to cool large wine cellars up to approximately 3,000 cubic feet when properly insulated and sealed with a vapor barrier.

This system is typically selected for:

  • Large residential wine cellars
  • Glass wine rooms with moderate heat gain
  • Restaurants and commercial tasting spaces
  • Projects requiring remote condenser placement

The Twin configuration provides increased cooling capacity and improved air distribution compared to single-evaporator systems.

Professional HVAC-R installation is required.

Available in WhisperKOOL Platinum Split Twin 110V Condenser & Platinum Split Twin 220V Condenser for 1750 cu.ft.

Other Sizes: Available in WhisperKOOL Platinum Split 4000 220V H.E. for 1000 cu.ft. wine cellar, and WhisperKOOL Platinum Split 8000 220V H.E. for 3000 cu.ft. wine cellar.

Is the Platinum Split Twin Right for Your Cellar?

This system is appropriate when:

  • The cellar size ranges between 2,000–3,000 cu. ft.
  • Walls and ceiling are fully insulated
  • A proper vapor barrier is installed
  • Condenser placement is required outdoors or remotely (up to 100 line feet)
  • The project includes moderate glass exposure
  • Stable long-term temperature control is required for valuable collections

A professional heat load calculation is strongly recommended before system selection.

When This System Is NOT Recommended

The Platinum Split Twin may not be appropriate if:

  • The cellar is under 1,500 cu. ft.
  • Insulation is inadequate or vapor barrier is missing
  • Exterior glass walls receive direct solar exposure without shading
  • The condenser cannot be installed with adequate airflow clearance
  • A licensed HVAC-R technician is not available for installation

Selecting an undersized or improperly installed system may result in continuous operation, reduced lifespan, and unstable temperature control.

How the Split Twin System Works

The Platinum Split Twin consists of:

  • Two evaporator units installed inside the cellar
  • One 220V high-efficiency condensing unit installed outdoors or in a mechanical space

The evaporators distribute cooled air throughout the cellar while the condenser removes heat remotely. This reduces noise inside the cellar and improves installation flexibility.

Maximum recommended line length: 100 feet.

Cooling Performance & Capacity

Performance values are based on a fully insulated cellar with proper vapor barrier.

Rated Cooling Capacity – Twin 9000

Condenser Air Intake Fan Speed Sensible BTU/h Total BTU/h
60°F Medium 7,256 8,208
60°F High 8,833 9,417
75°F Medium 7,111 8,061
75°F High 8,322 8,636
85°F Medium 6,843 7,845
85°F High 7,779 8,054

Sensible BTU represents temperature removal.

Total BTU includes both temperature and humidity removal.

Cooling capacity decreases as condenser intake temperature rises — this is normal for refrigeration systems.

The system can maintain approximately 55°F cellar temperature with condenser air intake temperatures up to 120°F.

📚 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Yes. Cellar volume alone does not determine cooling requirements. Construction materials, insulation quality, glass exposure, ceiling height, and door frequency significantly impact heat load. A professional calculation helps prevent undersizing or oversizing.
