Description
High-Capacity Fully Ducted Wine Cellar Cooling System (Up to 5,000 cu. ft.)
The WhisperKOOL Quantum Twin 18000 is a commercial-grade, fully ducted split wine cellar cooling system designed for large residential and commercial wine cellars up to approximately 5,000 cubic feet, when the cellar is fully insulated and sealed with a proper vapor barrier.
This 220V high-efficiency system is engineered for projects requiring:
- Quiet cellar operation (remote equipment placement)
- High heat-load tolerance (glass, lighting, warm climates)
- Long duct runs and extended line sets
- Extreme ambient temperature operation (-20°F to 120°F)
Professional HVAC-R installation is required.
Other Sizes: WhisperKOOL Quantum SS9000 220V High-Efficiency Condenser for 3000 cu.ft wine cellar. WhisperKOOL Quantum SS12000 Ducted Split System 220V High Efficiency for 4000 cu.ft wine cellar. WhisperKOOL Quantum Twin 24000 Ducted Split System 220V High Efficiency for 7500 cu.ft wine cellar.
Is This the Right Cooling System for Your Cellar?
The Quantum Twin 18000 is appropriate if:
- Your cellar is between 3,500–5,000 cu. ft.
- Walls and ceiling meet minimum insulation standards (R19 walls / R30 ceiling recommended)
- A continuous 6-mil vapor barrier is installed
- You require fully ducted installation to conceal equipment
- The condenser may be installed remotely (up to 100 ft line set)
- You operate in climates with significant seasonal temperature swings
When This System Is NOT Recommended
This system may be inappropriate if:
- Your cellar is under 3,000 cu. ft.
- Insulation or vapor barrier is incomplete
- The room contains excessive unconditioned glass without load calculation
- Electrical infrastructure cannot support dual dedicated circuits
- Installation will not be performed by a licensed HVAC-R technician
An undersized or improperly installed unit may:
- Fail to maintain 55°F
- Run continuously
- Shorten compressor lifespan
- Void manufacturer warranty
Heat load calculations are strongly recommended prior to selection.
Cooling Performance & Capacity
Cooling output varies based on condenser intake temperature.
Rated Capacity (Per System)
At 60°F condenser intake:
- Sensible: 15,513 BTU/h
- Total: 18,250 BTU/h
At 75°F condenser intake:
- Sensible: 14,582 BTU/h
- Total: 17,155 BTU/h
At 85°F condenser intake:
- Sensible: 13,806 BTU/h
- Total: 16,243 BTU/h
BTU output decreases as condenser intake temperature increases. Always size your system based on the highest expected ambient temperature at the condenser location.
Operational Range
- Maintains cellar temperatures down to 55°F
- Operates with condenser intake temperatures up to 120°F
- Functions in ambient conditions as low as -20°F (with proper configuration)
Electrical Requirements (Dual-Voltage System)
⚠ This system requires two dedicated circuits:
- Evaporator: 120V (15-amp dedicated circuit required)
- Condenser: 220V (15-amp dedicated circuit required)
Improper electrical configuration voids warranty.
Installation & Ducting Requirements
- Fully ducted configuration
- 14” Supply duct
- 14” Return duct
- Up to 35 ft per duct run
- Maximum 100 ft line set between evaporator and condenser
- Line set not included
- Licensed HVAC-R installation mandatory
Improper duct sizing or excessive static pressure will reduce cooling efficiency.

📚 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
No. Line sets are not included and must be selected based on installation distance and specifications.
Sizing depends on insulation quality, vapor barrier integrity, glass exposure, lighting load, and ambient temperature at the condenser location. If your cellar includes large glass walls or operates in a hot climate, a larger model may be required. A heat load calculation is recommended before purchase.
An undersized system may run continuously, fail to reach 55°F, shorten compressor lifespan, increase energy consumption, and void the manufacturer warranty due to improper application.
Yes. The condenser may be installed outdoors with proper exterior protective housing. Ambient temperature limits must be observed, and adequate ventilation is required.
Yes, but glass significantly increases thermal load. The 18000 model may be insufficient for high-glass designs without load calculations. In many glass applications, the 24000 model is more appropriate.
Yes. Installation by a licensed HVAC-R technician is mandatory. Improper installation voids warranty and may result in performance failure."]
