What Breezaire Maintenance Actually Involves
Breezaire states that its cooling units need very little maintenance. The one scheduled task in the WKL, WKCE and WKSL instructions is to inspect and clean the condenser coil every three months, using a vacuum with a brush attachment.
The rest is keeping the exhaust clear, leaving the Sentry III settings alone once the cellar settles, and watching the drain and display. A blocked coil is the one habit Breezaire's warranty does not forgive.
In short: clean the condenser coil every 3 months, keep at least 3 feet of open, ventilated space at the warm air exhaust, do not add a humidifier, and treat water overflow as a sign that humid air is leaking into the cellar. Refrigerant and electrical work goes to a qualified technician, and warranty questions go to your dealer.
Why Breezaire Maintenance Matters
A Breezaire unit rejects the cellar's heat through its condenser coil. When dust and lint block that coil, the unit overheats and loses cooling efficiency.
Breezaire's WKL instructions go further: a failure caused by a blocked condenser coil is not covered under warranty. A few minutes with a vacuum every three months protects both the unit and the warranty.
Good upkeep also protects the wine. Breezaire designed its WKL series to hold a constant, selectable temperature while reducing excess relative humidity to the 50% to 75% range.

How to Clean a Breezaire Condenser Coil
- Unplug the unit. Disconnect power before you touch the grille or coil.
- Remove the exhaust condenser grille. On WKL units it is located outside the enclosure, on the warm air side.
- Vacuum the fins. Use a vacuum with a brush attachment to remove dirt and lint from the fins of the condenser coil, without bending them.
- Refit the grille and restore power. Check that nothing blocks the exhaust for at least 3 feet.

Monitoring and Adjusting the Sentry III Controller
- Factory setting: the Sentry III is set to 55°F from the factory.
- Changing the set point: press and hold SET, then press WARMER or COOLER within five seconds, and release SET.
- Be patient: Breezaire's WKL instructions say not to change the thermostat setting for at least 3 days unless the temperature falls below what you want.
- What the display shows: the temperature of the air entering the unit, or the bottle probe temperature if the optional probe is installed.
- Alarm: the display alternates "AL" and the temperature if storage temperature rises above the alarm setting, which is 62°F from the factory.

Humidity, Condensate and the Drain
- No humidifier: Breezaire units do not add moisture. To add moisture, Breezaire advises only slow, natural evaporation from a small porous water container, and not a humidifier.
- Pull-down drain tube: WKL units have a pull-down drain tube to prevent condensate overflow. It is meant only for temporary use when excess moist air is entering the enclosure, and the source of that air must be eliminated.
- Drain line: if you install one, use vinyl tubing with a 1/2 inch inside diameter and keep it running downhill. A horizontal run may need an air vent or a condensate pump.
- Overflow means a leak: Breezaire lists a unit that runs all the time with only a slight drop in temperature, or water overflowing from the unit, as symptoms of humid air leaking into the enclosure.

When and How to Get Professional Breezaire Service
Call a qualified technician for refrigerant, compressor or electrical problems, and when a code returns after a reset and a clean coil. Breezaire recommends a licensed refrigeration technician for WKSL split systems.
If the unit is under warranty, contact your dealer first. Breezaire's warranty is voided by repair or attempted repair by anyone other than Breezaire, and a unit should not be returned without Breezaire's authorization.
