Description

Is the WhisperKOOL Platinum Split 4000 Right for Your Wine Cellar?

The Platinum Split 4000 Ductless is designed for wine cellars up to 1,000 cubic feet, assuming proper insulation and vapor barrier construction.

It is ideal for:

  • Modern glass wine walls
  • Residential or light commercial cellars
  • Projects requiring remote condenser placement
  • Installations where a visible evaporator grille is acceptable

It is not recommended for:

  • Cellars exceeding 1,000 cubic feet
  • Poorly insulated rooms
  • Spaces without a vapor barrier
  • DIY installation without a licensed HVAC-R technician
  • Fully hidden cooling systems (choose a ducted split system instead)

Available in WhisperKOOL Platinum Split 4000 Ductless Cooling System 220V & Platinum Split 4000 Ductless Cooling System 110V for 1000 cu.ft. Other Sizes: WhisperKOOL Platinum Mini Split for 500 cu.ft. wine cellar, WhisperKOOL Platinum Split 8000 for 1750 cu.ft wine cellar, and WhisperKOOL Platinum Split Twin for 3000 cu.ft. wine cellar.

How This Split System Works

This is a two-piece cooling system:

  • Evaporator (Fan Coil Unit) – Installed inside the cellar
  • Condenser (Condensing Unit) – Installed up to 100 feet away (outdoors, attic, or mechanical room)

Separating the components:

  • Reduces noise inside the cellar
  • Improves temperature stability
  • Allows flexible installation design

The ductless version features a visible grille inside the cellar.

Performance & Capacity

Rated Cellar Size: Up to 1,000 cu. ft.*

BTU Output (85°F Condenser Air Intake): 3,650 BTU/h

Airflow (CFM): 270

Temperature Delta: Maintains 55°F cellar temperature with up to 110°F condenser air intake.

*Cellar must be fully insulated and sealed with proper vapor barrier.

If your cellar contains significant glass, exterior-facing walls, or high ambient heat exposure, you may require a larger system.

Key Features

2-Speed Operation

Adjusts cooling output based on cellar load.

KDT Digital Touch Display

  • Installable up to 50 feet away
  • Includes system alerts and performance monitoring

Bottle Probe Temperature Sensor

Measures liquid temperature rather than ambient air for more accurate wine protection.

Optional 24V Thermostat Conversion Kit

Allows integration with third-party smart thermostats for remote monitoring and alerts.

Important:
Using the 24V kit removes the standard WhisperKOOL display and bottle probe. A third-party thermostat must be supplied by the installer.

Installation Requirements

Installation must be performed by a qualified HVAC-R technician.
Improper installation voids the warranty.

Before selecting this system, confirm:

  • Minimum R-19 wall insulation
  • Minimum R-30 ceiling insulation
  • Vapor barrier installed on the warm side
  • Dedicated 115V, 15-amp circuits
  • Proper refrigerant line sizing

Failure to meet insulation standards may result in:

  • Continuous runtime
  • Inability to maintain 55°F
  • Premature compressor wear
