Slimline or SC PRO: How They Differ
Both are WhisperKOOL self-contained units, but they fit different walls. The Slimline is designed to mount above the cellar door, in the space between the door and the ceiling, and WhisperKOOL calls it its quietest interior-venting self-contained unit. The SC PRO is a through-the-wall unit in four sizes, from about 300 to 2,000 cubic feet, whose exhaust can be ducted with an optional kit.
Choose the Slimline when wall space and quiet matter most in a smaller cellar. Choose the SC PRO when you need more capacity or a ducted exhaust.
In short: both carry the same WhisperKOOL self-contained warranty (two years parts and labor, five years on the compressor) and both must be mounted within 18 inches of the ceiling with 3 feet of clearance. The SC PRO covers bigger cellars and can duct its exhaust; the Slimline saves wall and racking space above a doorway. For hot exhaust rooms, WhisperKOOL points to its Extreme series instead.

The WhisperKOOL Slimline and Slimline LS
WhisperKOOL describes the Slimline as a self-contained, forced-air, through-the-wall unit designed to mount in a living area, fitting into the often unused space between the cellar door and the ceiling. That keeps wall space free for racking.
The current Slimline LS adds centrifugal blowers, which WhisperKOOL says are significantly quieter, and it can cool at two capacities at the flip of a switch by running at medium or low fan speed.
The WhisperKOOL SC PRO Lineup
The SC PRO comes in four models, the 2000, 3000, 4000 and 8000, which WhisperKOOL sizes for about 300, 650, 1,000 and 2,000 cubic feet. The model number is not the capacity: the SC PRO 4000, for example, is rated at 2,253 BTU/h at an 85°F condenser intake.
WhisperKOOL lists it as through-the-wall and partially ducted: the exhaust air can be ducted using the optional ducting kit. The condenser intake should not exceed 85°F to keep the cellar at 55°F, which makes an interior installation ideal. WhisperKOOL does not recommend outside venting for the SC PRO and points to the Extreme series for exterior installations.

Sizing a WhisperKOOL Slimline or SC PRO
WhisperKOOL's cellar sizes are approximations for a cellar that is fully insulated and sealed with a proper vapor barrier, and WhisperKOOL says a heat load calculation should always be performed before selecting a unit. WhisperKOOL also warns that undersized units can fail early or never reach the set temperature, and that they are not covered under warranty.

Mounting and clearance. Both units must be mounted within 18 inches of the ceiling, with at least 3 feet of horizontal clearance in every direction (five feet is ideal).
Drain line. WhisperKOOL requires a condensation drain line on SC units and says not using it voids the warranty. The SC controller reports codes such as E1 (bottle probe), E2 (evaporator probe) and COH (condenser coil too hot).
Warranty. Both are covered by WhisperKOOL's self-contained warranty: two years on labor, parts and freight, plus five years on the compressor only, valid in the continental United States.
