Description
What Is the WhisperKOOL Ceiling Mount 8000?
The WhisperKOOL Ceiling Mount 8000 is a ductless split wine cellar cooling system designed for cellars up to 2,000 cubic feet when fully insulated and sealed with a proper vapor barrier. The evaporator installs flush in the ceiling, while the condenser can be located up to 100 line feet away. Licensed HVAC installation is required.
Is the Ceiling Mount 8000 Right for Your Cellar?
The Ceiling Mount 8000 is designed for:
- Wine cellars up to 2,000 cubic feet
- Fully insulated rooms (R-19 walls recommended minimum)
- Proper vapor barrier on the warm side of insulation
- Residential and light commercial projects
- Glass wine walls where aesthetics matter
- Projects requiring remote condenser placement
This System May NOT Be Appropriate If:
- The cellar lacks a vapor barrier
- The room contains excessive uninsulated glass
- The condenser will operate in unventilated attic conditions exceeding 110°F
- Electrical service cannot support a dedicated 115V circuit
- DIY installation is planned
Improper sizing or construction is the most common cause of cooling failure.
Available in WhisperKOOL Ceiling Mount 8000 220V Condenser & WhisperKOOL Ceiling Mount 8000 110V Condenser for 2000 cu.ft.
Other Sizes: WhisperKOOL Mini Ceiling Mount for 500 cu.ft, WhisperKOOL Ceiling Mount 4000 for 1000 cu.ft. wine cellar, WhisperKOOL Ceiling Mount Twin 9000 for 3000 cu.ft. wine cellar and WhisperKOOL Ceiling Mount Twin 12000 for 3500 cu. ft.
How the Ceiling Mount 8000 Works
This is a ductless split cooling system, meaning:
- The evaporator (fan coil) installs inside the cellar, flush between ceiling joists.
- The condenser installs remotely (garage, mechanical room, attic with ventilation, or outdoors with protective housing).
- Refrigerant lines connect both components (up to 100 line feet).
Because warm air rises, the ceiling-mounted evaporator draws in warmer air, cools it, and redistributes conditioned air evenly to maintain stable storage conditions.
Performance & Capacity
- Recommended Cellar Size: Up to 2,000 cu. ft.*
- BTU/h (at 85°F condenser air intake): 5,254
- Horsepower: 2.06 HP
- Airflow: 321 CFM
*Capacity assumes proper insulation, sealed construction, and minimal thermal load from glass or exterior walls. Glass-heavy designs require load calculation.
Temperature Performance
The system can maintain a 55°F cellar temperature with up to 110°F condenser air intake temperature, assuming:
- Proper ventilation at condenser location
- Correct refrigerant charge
- Adequate cellar insulation
- Functional vapor barrier

Construction Requirements
The Ceiling Mount 8000 depends on proper cellar construction:
- Vapor barrier installed on warm side
- Sealed penetrations
- Insulated ceiling and walls
- Weather-stripped cellar door
- Proper drainage slope
Without these, condensation, excessive runtime, and system failure may occur.

📚 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
The system is built to cool wine cellars up to 2,000 cubic feet, assuming proper insulation, vapor barriers, and sealed construction.
This unit is installed flush in the ceiling, maximizing space and maintaining a clean look. It’s a ductless split system, meaning the evaporator (inside) and condenser (outside) are separated for quieter operation and more flexible placement.
Yes. Installation must be done by a licensed HVAC professional. This ensures proper refrigerant handling, electrical setup, and compliance with warranty requirements.
Yes, with the use of an optional exterior housing, the condenser can be safely placed outdoors. Proper airflow and weather protection are essential for outdoor setups.
Very quiet. The system separates the noise-generating condenser from the cellar and uses ultra-quiet ceiling-mounted fans, making it ideal for noise-sensitive spaces or tasting rooms.
The system features the WhisperKOOL KDT Plus digital controller, offering temperature and humidity monitoring, system alerts, and advanced diagnostics.
Yes, but glass significantly increases thermal load. In large glass applications, professional load evaluation is required to confirm proper sizing.
Without a vapor barrier, moisture infiltration can cause condensation, mold growth, and system overwork. The unit may not maintain 55°F consistently.
The condenser may be installed up to 100 line feet from the evaporator, depending on installation configuration and line set design.
Yes, provided attic temperatures do not exceed 110°F at condenser intake and adequate ventilation is available.
Yes. A licensed HVAC-R technician is required. Improper installation voids the warranty.
Yes. Annual inspection of coils, refrigerant charge, airflow, and drainage is recommended to maintain performance and warranty compliance."]
